These places have farmers, and the people have been staying here since the Lichchhavi period. Check out the information about these towns below:
Bungmati
Bungmati is in Lalitpur, a sub-metropolitan city in the Kathmandu Valley. The Lichchhavi King Amsumvarma founded the town in 605 with the construction of the Kailashkut palace. The earliest name of Bungmati was Bugayumingrama. The name came from the Kiratian dialect ‘Bugayumi,’ which means the settlement in the Kirat period. The Malla named this town Bungapattan, also called Amarapur (a religious place).
While visiting Bungmati, you can experience traditional lifestyles, woodcarving, Newar architecture, temples, and more. The town has a massive Bhairav Temple dedicated to the city's protective god. Close to the Bhairav Temple is a small Machhindranath temple, where the god remains for six months, then is brought to Patan for another six months.
Khokana
Khokana is another small Newar town close to Bungmati. A suspension bridge connects these two places, but there is also a driving road. You can see one of the most famous and religious Ganesh temples (Karyabinayak) in Khokana. After visiting Karyabinayak Temple, you walk into the town and see numerous ancient religious Hindu temples.
You see people working on the farm while visiting Bungmati and Khokana, a traditional oil mill, ducks walking around the town, and more, which you probably have not seen before. The villagers celebrate a creepy festival in Khokana. They put a young female goat into a pond and pull it with many people.
