About Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is one of the most beautiful treks along the remote areas of Nepal, offering spectacular views of the Langtang Mountains. The Langtang Gosainkunda Lake trek offers magnificent views of verdant landscapes and majestic ponds of religious significance. The Langtang Gosaikunda lake trek allows the trekkers to head to the Kyanjin Gompa, and on the second half of the Gosainkunda, the pass trek leads to the serene lakes in Gosaikunda. Tamang, the prevalent ethnic community along the Langtang Valley Gosaikunda trek, decorates the trails with their unique culture.

To the north of the Kathmandu Valley, trekking to Langtang Gosaikunda is popular in the Langtang region. It is an easy and renowned trek compared to the other trekking routes. One with no prior mountaineering experience who wants to explore the beauty of the Langtang region can trek the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek. Our Langtang Valley Gosaikunda Trek starts from Kathmandu Valley with a scenic drive to Syabrubesi. The trail ascends through the Langtang National Park and heads to Lama Hotel. From here, the trek passes through the pasturelands and reaches Ghodatabela. The quaint settlement of Langtang village lies ahead, and as you ascend further, the tour reaches the glorious Kyanjin Gompa. Retracing the steps to Lama Hotel, taking a different route, the trek crosses paths with the Lauribina-la pass trek and heads to the Gosaikunda Lakes. These lakes are revered for their beauty and, even more so, for their religious significance in Hinduism and Buddhism. These lakes are said to have hosted the mighty Hindu god Shiva and to celebrate his feats during the full moon in August. Also encompassing the Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu trek trails, the trek crosses the Lauribina-la pass (4610m) and descends through Ghopte, Chisapani, and Sundarijal.

On this day, you head to the Kathmandu Valley for a full day of sightseeing. One of our experienced tour guides will accompany you during the sightseeing. We will drive to some religious shrines in the valley, like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath Stupa. Following the excursion to the sites of massive religious origins, the tour ends as you visit Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the evening, we will return to the hotel. After breakfast, we will drive towards the northwestern valleys along the Trishuli Bazaar, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the high, snow-capped mountains in the Annapurna, Manaslu, and Ganesh Himal ranges. The route is almost along the green valley, passing through tranquil villages and rushing rivers. We will stop by Trishuli Bazaar and head to Dhunche. From Dhunche, we will descend to Sybrubensi. Overnight stay at Sybrubensi.

The first-day trail in the Langtang Gosainkunda trek crosses the Bhote Koshi River, which originates in Tibet and joins the Langtang Khola. We will cross a suspension bridge over the Langtang Khola and continue ascending along the trail, passing through the dense forests of oak and rhododendrons. Crossing the densely forested area, we will continue to Rimche and finally to the Lama Hotel. Overnight stay at the Lama Hotel.

Initially, our trail gently climbs, then follows steeper sections through forested areas, leaving the Langtang Khola far behind. Witnessing Mt. Langtang Lirung (7227m) and lush meadows, we will cross a wooden log bridge to the Ghodatabela. We will cross many settlements of Tamang, forests of rhododendrons and prayer flags, and many miles to reach our final destination, Langtang Village. Overnight stay at Langtang Village.

It is a short walk to Kyanjin Gompa, which will take about 3-4 hours. The trail mostly winds across the Yak Pasture lands and through the villages of Mundu. We will also encounter and cross some wooden bridges and moraines before reaching Kyanjin Gompa. We will have lunch there and move to Kyanjin Gompa, the government-operated Cheese factory, along with our tourist guide. Overnight stay at Kyanjin Gompa.

Due to continuous trekking from Sybrubensi to Kyanjin Gompa, we need to acclimatize to the thinner air at this altitude. We need to rest and adjust to the increasing altitude, so we will use this day to explore nearby areas or go on a day hike. We will ascend to Kyanjin Ri (4350 m) and Tserko Ri (4984m), the highest point of this trek, or we can also hike up to the Langshisha Kharka. Enjoying the magnificent mountain views and the moraines, we will return to the Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight stay at Kyanjin Gompa.

We will descend the same trail early in the morning, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village, then to Lama Hotel after passing Gumanechok. We will have lunch at Ghodatabela and continue down the steep descent on the same trail we ascended earlier. Overnight stay at the Lama Hotel.

We begin the second half of the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek as the trail descends along the Langtang River, then ascends through pine, oak, and rhododendron forests to Thulo Syabru. Passing Bamboo and Doman on the way, we reach Thulo Syabru. This beautiful village has preserved the unique Tamang culture and offers magnificent views of the Ganesh Himal (7,124 m), Langtang Himal (7,227 m), and the surrounding ranges. Overnight stay at Thulo Syabru.

This will be the steepest part of our trek. We will start our trek early in the morning and ascend the path to Dursagang. The trail continues through the forests, and we reach the high mountains that lead us to the top of Phulung Danda. The route from here ascends gently to Chopche, then continues steeply up a ridge with views of the snow-capped Himalayas to Lauribinayak. Overnight stay at Lauribinayak.

From Lauribinayak, the trail ascends above the tree line. After crossing a small bridge, we will see majestic views of the holy lake Gosainkunda. We will encounter Saraswatikunda, Bhairab Kunda, and Gosainkunda. Gosainkunda is a sacred lake; many pilgrims visit it during Janai Purnima. After enjoying the magnificent mountain views and the beautiful, mystic river, we will return to Lauribinayak. We will stay overnight there.

From Lauribinayak, we will walk to Gosainkunda and ascend for about 1.5 hours to reach the summit of the Lauribina Pass. The pass boasts exquisite views of the Himalayas in the Ganesh, Langtang, and Manaslu Himal ranges. The beautiful trail then descends steeply to Phedi and then to Ghopte. Overnight stay at Ghopte.

After breakfast, we will follow ascending and descending trails along the region's curvaceous hills and through a few forested areas. We will reach Tharepati. It is a beautiful place on the ridge, offering magnificent views of the high snowy mountains and the trail towards Helambu. We will continue along the trail to reach Kutumsang. Overnight stay at Kutumsang.

We will start our trail in the early morning along the ascending path and descend to Gul Bhanjyang. The trail ascends to Chipling and then descends steeply to the Thodung. The track keeps on ascending and descending until Chisapani. The trek crosses Thankune Bhanjyang and Pati Bhanjyang before arriving at the viewpoint of the Gaurishankar range; finally, it heads to Chisapani. Overnight stay at Chisapani.

This will be our last day of trekking. We will enter the Shivapuri National Park, ascend to Borlang Bhanjyang, descend along the trail, pass through the National Park's dense forests to Mulkharka, and finally head down to Sundarijal. From Sundarijal, we will drive back to Kathmandu, and then we will have a farewell dinner hosted by Frolic Adventure Treks on the successful completion of the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek.
