Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek Difficulties
The Kanchenjunga Circuit is an adventure with high passes and a remote trek. There are fewer trekkers compared to other commercial trekking routes in Nepal, and you feel a lack of support and difficulties during the trek. Check out the problems of the Kanchenjunga Circuit trek below:
- The trek reaches 5,140 meters, so proper acclimatization to the high altitude is important to avoid altitude sickness. You need to ascend slowly and take rest days to acclimatize.
- On a high-altitude trek, temperatures can drop below freezing in the morning and night and remain quite cold during the day. Proper insulation and warm layers are essential.
- The trek has several steep ascents and descents, especially as you cross high passes. Due to the steep terrain, the trails can be strenuous. Trekking poles are highly recommended.
- The Kanchenjunga region is remote and has limited infrastructure and facilities. Trekkers must be prepared with basic amenities.
- The area is sometimes prone to storms, rain, snow, and high winds. Trekkers must be ready to handle harsh weather conditions, and proper gear for rain and cold is critical.
- There are only basic tea houses and limited accommodations along the trek. Comfortable sleeping conditions and amenities are lacking.
Proper physical fitness, acclimatization, quality gear, and supplies, caution while trekking, good route-finding skills, and flexibility for delays and changes are key to handling the demands of this challenging Kanchenjunga Circuit trek. Proper research and preparation help mitigate the difficulties.
